AMD reported record second-quarter 2026 results on August 4, posting total revenue of $11.5 billion, a 50% year-over-year increase that beat analyst expectations. Non-GAAP earnings per share came in at $1.66, also ahead of forecasts, while the company guided for approximately $13 billion in third-quarter revenue.
The headline number came from AMD's data center segment, where revenue more than doubled to $6.7 billion, a 107% year-over-year jump driven by strong demand for its EPYC processors and Instinct GPUs. Data center sales now account for 58% of AMD's total revenue, underscoring how central AI infrastructure spending has become to the company's growth as it accelerates its challenge to Nvidia in AI accelerators.
Margins Improved, But the Stock Still Fell
Profitability metrics improved alongside the revenue beat: GAAP gross margin rose to 54%, up 14 percentage points year-over-year, while non-GAAP gross margin reached 56% and operating margin expanded 19 percentage points. Gaming was the one weak spot, declining 31% to $779 million amid softer console demand. Despite the across-the-board beat, AMD shares fell more than 8% in after-hours trading, as investors reportedly sought even stronger signals of AI-driven growth than the company delivered.
Crypto Exchanges Move Fast on the News
The earnings beat immediately became a trading hook across crypto exchanges now offering tokenized US equities. Bitget circulated the exact revenue, EPS and guidance figures to traders within hours, directing users toward its tokenized AMD product as a way to trade the post-earnings volatility, the same exchange that has spent the past week promoting the liquidity depth of its rToken stock offering. That reaction reflects how deeply exchanges have built earnings-driven trading around individual stocks into their tokenized-equity businesses this year, treating a single company's earnings call as a live trading catalyst the same way it would be treated on a traditional brokerage platform, just available continuously rather than only during standard market hours.

With AMD guiding for further growth into the third quarter and gross margins still expanding, its data center trajectory is likely to remain a closely watched data point both for traditional equity investors and for the tokenized-stock trading desks now built around the same earnings calendar.
