Binance said Tuesday it is extending its Monitoring Tag to five more tokens: Moonbeam (GLMR), ICON (ICX), Moonriver (MOVR), SuperRare (RARE) and Sophon (SOPH). The designation flags each project for elevated volatility and risk relative to other listed assets and puts them on a defined path toward potential removal from the exchange if conditions don't improve.

The tag itself does not mean immediate delisting. Instead, it functions as a structured warning period, giving each project a window to demonstrate improvement before Binance makes a final call. Users looking to trade a tagged token must pass a risk-acknowledgment quiz every 90 days to continue accessing it.

How Binance Decides Which Tokens to Flag

According to Binance's own explanation of the mechanism, the exchange reviews a mix of factors before applying the tag, including a project's development activity, trading volume and liquidity, and the stability of its network or smart contracts. Tokens that show sustained improvement across those metrics — stronger liquidity, consistent development, and transparent communication from the team — can have the tag removed later.

A Familiar Pattern for Flagged Tokens

History on the exchange suggests the tag is a meaningful warning rather than a formality: tokens that have carried a Monitoring Tag in the past have often gone on to face full delisting if the underlying concerns weren't resolved. For GLMR, ICX, MOVR, RARE and SOPH, that means increased scrutiny from traders in the weeks ahead, even though Binance has stopped short of announcing an outright delisting for any of the five.

The move adds to a growing list of altcoins facing exchange-level scrutiny this year as trading platforms tighten listing standards amid thinner liquidity across smaller-cap tokens. For holders of the five affected tokens, the practical impact is immediate: continued access requires completing Binance's risk quiz, and price action in each has historically turned volatile once a Monitoring Tag is applied.
