Bitget rolled out two related upgrades to its tokenized-stock trading products on August 5: long-side margin trading for rToken on the Bitget App, and five new stock perpetual futures contracts. Both build on infrastructure Bitget has been expanding since launching its rToken product line earlier in 2026.
Bitget introduced rToken, its tokenized U.S. stock and ETF product, on June 2, 2026, initially covering 36 names backed 1:1 by real shares held in custody through Reality Protocol, settled and traded using USDT rather than requiring a separate brokerage account. The product lets holders trade fractional shares 24/7 without the commissions or custody fees typical of traditional brokerages, and pays out dividends in USDT rather than requiring manual claims. Bitget expanded the model further on July 16, 2026 with the launch of a Cross-Asset Unified Account bringing more than 370 eligible assets — including 100 rTokens — into a single shared margin pool, letting eligible users apply tokenized stock holdings as collateral for futures positions.
What's new this week
The August 5 update specifically enables long-side margin trading for rToken, letting eligible users borrow against or leverage their tokenized stock holdings for long positions directly within the unified account structure, rather than needing to hold the full value of a position in cash. Alongside that, Bitget listed five new stock perpetual futures contracts, expanding the range of individual equities available as leveraged, round-the-clock trading products on the platform.
Building toward a broader margin ecosystem
Together, the moves continue Bitget's push to blur the line between its crypto and tokenized-equity products, treating rTokens less as a standalone asset class and more as another form of collateral that can flow through the same margin and futures infrastructure used for crypto trading — a structure the exchange has billed as an industry first among crypto-native platforms.
