Bitget has partnered with CCXT, the widely used cryptocurrency trading library, to offer eligible BitMEX clients a streamlined path to move their trading activity onto Bitget's platform. The arrangement gives migrating users preferential fees and dedicated technical support intended to smooth the transition away from BitMEX.
Bitget specifically framed the offer around institutional clients and high-volume traders, the segment most likely to have built trading infrastructure around BitMEX's API and now facing switching costs if they decide to relocate that activity elsewhere.
Why CCXT matters to the migration pitch
CCXT is an open-source library that standardizes how trading bots and algorithmic systems connect to different cryptocurrency exchanges, letting developers switch or add exchange connections with minimal code changes. By partnering directly with CCXT rather than only marketing to end users, Bitget is targeting the technical layer that institutional and algorithmic traders actually depend on, making it easier for automated trading systems built for BitMEX to be reconfigured toward Bitget with less custom engineering work.
That technical compatibility is often the deciding factor for high-volume trading desks considering a platform switch, since manually rebuilding execution infrastructure can be more costly than any short-term fee discount.
Competing for displaced trading volume
Exchanges regularly compete to absorb trading volume that becomes available when clients reconsider their primary venue, and preferential fee arrangements paired with technical migration support are a common way to lower the friction of that switch. Bitget's offer positions the exchange to capture institutional order flow that might otherwise default to a competitor, using CCXT's existing developer relationships as a distribution channel for the migration offer itself.
