BitMine Immersion Technologies added another 9,926 ETH to its balance sheet over the past week, bringing its total holdings to 5,815,164 ETH — worth roughly $11.4 billion in combined crypto, cash and marketable securities as of August 16, according to the company's own disclosure. That stake now represents about 4.8% of Ethereum's entire circulating supply, held by a single publicly traded company.

Of that treasury, roughly 87% — some 5,067,309 ETH — is actively staked, generating yield the company can use to fund further accumulation without necessarily needing to raise fresh capital every week. The pace of BitMine's buying has been remarkably consistent through August: holdings climbed from 5,797,813 ETH on August 2 to 5,805,238 ETH on August 9, and now to 5,815,164 ETH a week later.

The Ethereum Answer to a Bitcoin Playbook

BitMine's strategy mirrors, and in some ways has diverged from, the corporate bitcoin treasury model that Strategy pioneered — except built around ether instead of bitcoin, with staking layered on top for yield that a bitcoin-only treasury cannot generate. The comparison is pointed this week specifically: even as BitMine keeps adding to its ETH position, Strategy has now gone roughly five consecutive weeks without buying a single bitcoin, redirecting its capital-raising toward preferred-stock dividends instead.

Buying Into a Soft Market

The accumulation is notable partly because of the backdrop it's happening against. Ether itself has been range-bound, and broader institutional demand for ETH exposure has been mixed — spot Ethereum ETFs recently posted a net weekly outflow even as certain funds, like Grayscale's, pulled in fresh money. BitMine's steady weekly buying stands in contrast to that institutional hesitancy, suggesting the company is treating the current price range as an accumulation opportunity rather than waiting for a stronger trend to confirm.

With nearly one in every twenty ether tokens now sitting in BitMine's treasury, the company's weekly disclosures have effectively become a recurring data point the broader ETH market watches — both for what it signals about corporate conviction in ether as a treasury asset, and for the sheer scale of supply being pulled off the open market and staked long-term.
