Exchange Bitrue is offering a 4.5% annual percentage rate on staked ALGO, timing the promotion to a milestone in Algorand's validator growth. According to the exchange, the network's validator count reached roughly 1,540 after adding three more nodes in a 24-hour span, a pace of growth Bitrue is framing as evidence of ALGO's improving decentralization profile.

The validator figure lines up with independent tracking of the network. Data reported by The Cryptonomist puts Algorand's validator count at an all-time high of approximately 1,540 as of August 2026, placing it 4th among the most decentralized networks tracked by Chainspect, behind only Ethereum, MultiversX and Cardano.

A staking incentive tied to a real network metric

Bitrue's staking offer gives ALGO holders a yield-bearing option without needing to run validator infrastructure themselves, and the exchange is explicitly linking the promotion to the network's growing validator base rather than treating it as a standalone rate. The pitch is straightforward: as more independent nodes come online, the case for ALGO as a genuinely distributed network strengthens, and Bitrue is positioning its staking product as a way for retail holders to participate in that trend.

Part of a broader decentralization push

The validator growth isn't happening in isolation. Algorand has also been increasing the share of ALGO staked by the community relative to the Algorand Foundation's own holdings over the course of 2026, with community-held stake running above 80% of the total staked supply in recent monthly reports — a trend that, alongside the rising validator count, points to a network gradually reducing its reliance on foundation-controlled infrastructure.
