Bybit has gone live with UNITREEUSDT, a pre-IPO perpetual contract giving traders exposure to humanoid robotics maker Unitree ahead of any formal public listing. The exchange teased the product hours earlier as tracking "humanoid robots" and "one massive IPO," before confirming the contract had launched.
Pre-IPO perpetuals let traders speculate on a private company's implied valuation before its shares are publicly tradable, using a perpetual futures structure rather than direct equity ownership.
Part of a Broader TradFi Push
The Unitree listing lands alongside a separate Bybit rollout of CXMT, a Chinese DRAM memory chipmaker, as the exchange continues expanding its lineup of tradeable products beyond native crypto tokens and into pre-IPO and equity-linked perpetuals. Bybit has been promoting these additions under its “NewFinancialPlatform” branding push.
Why It Matters for Traders
Pre-IPO perpetual products give retail traders a way to take a position on high-profile private companies, such as humanoid robotics makers, well before those firms reach public markets through a traditional listing process. Because there's no underlying public share price to anchor the contract, pricing on these instruments tends to be driven more heavily by sentiment and exchange-specific supply and demand than by the price discovery mechanisms typical of listed equities.
As with any perpetual contract tied to an illiquid or private underlying asset, traders should expect wider volatility and less price transparency than with contracts tracking publicly listed stocks.
