Crypto projects have raised a combined $1.42 billion through public token sales so far in 2026, according to data from CryptoRank. Ethereum leads all ecosystems with $334 million raised, followed by BNB Chain at $288 million, Base at $269 million, Solana at $241 million and Sonic at $206 million. Together, those five ecosystems account for roughly $1.34 billion, or 94% of all public token-sale funding recorded year-to-date.

The ranking marks a shift from 2025, when Ethereum placed third among ecosystems for the comparable period. Its move to first this year suggests renewed fundraising interest is concentrating around more established chains rather than spreading across newer layer-1 and layer-2 networks.

A Headline Number That Hides a Collapse

The $1.42 billion year-to-date total looks healthy in isolation, but it masks a sharp slowdown beneath the surface. Public token sales raised just $58 million in the second quarter of 2026, an 85% drop from the $390 million raised in the first quarter, and May recorded only 13 sales — the lowest monthly count since December 2020. That's a steep fall from the cycle's peak in January 2025, when a single month brought in $654 million across a wave of new offerings.

Capital Hasn't Disappeared, It's Moved

Analysts tracking the space note that capital is still flowing into crypto, but increasingly through private funding rounds and a smaller number of larger raises rather than broad-based public token launches. Retail appetite for new offerings has also cooled after many tokens sold during the 2025 rebound ended the year trading well below their original fundraising valuations, discouraging participation in newer public sales.

Fewer, Bigger Winners

Taken together, the numbers point to a public fundraising market that's narrowing rather than recovering: total dollars raised look respectable when tallied across ecosystems, but that figure is now driven by a handful of high-profile raises on major chains rather than the broad wave of new project launches that characterized prior cycles.
