Swiss digital-asset infrastructure provider Taurus completed an 18-month integration of Hedera's full technology stack on August 5, giving more than 40 banks and regulated financial institutions — including Deutsche Bank, CACEIS and State Street — access to Hedera-based custody, staking, token issuance, node infrastructure and smart contract deployment through a single platform.

The final phase of the rollout added Hedera smart contract support to Taurus's platform, meaning an institution can now custody and stake HBAR, issue tokens, or run programmable products such as tokenized bonds, funds and stablecoins, all under the same due-diligence and risk framework it already uses for other digital assets.

Access, not yet confirmed adoption

The distinction matters: the announcement gives banks the technical ability to build on Hedera through Taurus's platform, but it did not name a single institution that has already launched a live Hedera-based product using the completed integration. In other words, the infrastructure is now in place at more than 40 banks — whether any of them actually ships something on it is a separate, still-open question.

Taurus and the Hashgraph Association, Hedera's governing body, first announced their strategic partnership in January 2025, and Taurus formally joined the Association's Global Membership Program in July 2026 — a nearly two-year runway that culminated in this month's full-stack rollout.

Part of a broader institutional courtship

The Taurus integration lands as exchanges court retail interest in HBAR alongside the institutional narrative — Bitrue, for instance, is currently promoting HBAR staking to its own users, pointing to bank-level interest in the network as a reason for retail traders to pay attention. That kind of framing tends to run ahead of the underlying facts, and this case is no exception: infrastructure access at a bank is not the same as that bank moving real assets onto Hedera.

The next real signal for HBAR watchers won't be another custody-platform integration — it will be the first bank that actually uses one to launch something.
