Monad's total value locked touched a fresh record of $868.64 million on August 10, with stablecoin supply on the network climbing to $670.07 million at the same time, yet neither milestone has translated into the kind of demand for the MON token that usually accompanies a TVL breakout.
By the time the figures were reported, TVL had eased slightly to $856.78 million, still a record for the chain. Capital continued to trickle in on the margins: net inflows over the prior 24 hours came to $530,420, and cumulative growth over the previous 15 days added roughly $1.43 million. Those are real but modest numbers next to a chain sitting near $870 million in locked value, and they underline the gap between capital parked on Monad and capital actively chasing the token.
The Chart Doesn't Match the Headline
Technically, MON is consolidating inside a bullish triangle, squeezed between descending resistance and a horizontal support line. But the indicators underneath that pattern tell a more cautious story. The Accumulation/Distribution line sits at a deeply negative -745 million on a volume-weighted basis, pointing to sustained distribution even as price holds up, and the Average Directional Index reads just 15 — well below the 25 threshold typically needed for a trend to be considered meaningful. In practice, that means the current setup lacks the momentum to confirm a breakout even if TVL keeps climbing.
How Monad Got Here
The record TVL caps a fast climb for a chain that only reached mainnet in November 2025. Monad crossed $300 million in locked value faster than any other recent Layer-1 launch, and per DefiLlama's tracking of the network, major DeFi protocols including Uniswap, Curve, and Morpho have since deployed on the chain, helping pull in the liquidity now sitting at record levels. That growth trajectory is part of why the current disconnect stands out: the infrastructure and capital are arriving faster than the trading demand needed to move the token itself.
Scheduled token unlocks later in 2026 add another variable service providers and holders will be watching, since fresh supply hitting the market without a matching pickup in demand could widen the gap between TVL strength and price performance even further.

For now, the picture is one of a chain attracting real capital commitments — stablecoins, protocol deployments, locked liquidity — without the accompanying token-level conviction. Whether that gap closes likely depends on whether MON can generate the kind of directional momentum the ADX reading currently says is missing.
