Pump.fun's ecosystem processed $2.97 billion in trading volume during the week of August 3-9, its strongest week since late January, according to data the platform shared. Bonding-curve volume accounted for $751.6 million of that total, while its automated market maker, PumpSwap, handled the remaining $2.22 billion.

The surge pushed weekly protocol fees to $10.03 million, the first time Pump.fun has crossed that threshold and a 12% jump from the prior week. Of that revenue, $5.02 million went toward buying back and burning roughly 2.15 billion PUMP tokens, continuing the platform's policy of routing half of all revenue into buybacks through a locked smart contract. Cumulative repurchases and burns have now offset 15.7% of PUMP's original total supply.

A Broader Solana Memecoin Rebound

The volume spike lines up with what traders have described as a resurgence in Solana memecoin activity through July, a stretch that also coincided with a rally for trader-influencer $ANSEM. Renewed memecoin launches on Pump.fun tend to feed directly into both bonding-curve volume and PumpSwap trading once tokens graduate, which helps explain the outsized jump in weekly fees.

Buybacks as a Supply Sink

Pump.fun's buyback mechanism has become one of the more closely watched deflationary models in the sector, with the platform now tracking its own revenue and repurchase activity in real time on its official fees dashboard. Routing half of protocol revenue into locked buybacks is designed to absorb some of the sell pressure that a launchpad model like Pump.fun's naturally generates as new tokens are minted and dumped.

Fees Now Ahead of Hyperliquid

Over the trailing 30 days, Pump.fun's revenue reached $35.67 million, edging out Hyperliquid's $32.46 million over the same stretch — a notable shift given Hyperliquid's dominance in perpetuals trading fees for much of the past year. Whether Pump.fun can sustain this pace depends heavily on continued memecoin issuance holding up through the rest of the summer.
