Strategy CEO Phong Le said the company plans to resume accumulating bitcoin later this year, according to a Monday interview with Fox Business, moving to reassure investors after a stretch of net selling drew scrutiny. Le said Strategy has purchased around 175,000 bitcoin since the start of 2026 while selling roughly 7,000 BTC over the same period — about 25 times more buying than selling.

Le characterized the recent sales as tactical balance-sheet moves rather than a change in strategy, saying they were designed to normalize the value of the company's STRC preferred stock product after it had drifted from where management wanted it. Strategy's total holdings currently sit at approximately 840,447 BTC, down modestly from more than 846,000 BTC held earlier in the year.

Reassurance After a Rare Pullback

Strategy has built its identity almost entirely around continuous bitcoin accumulation since 2020, so any period of net selling draws outsized attention from a market conditioned to treat the company as a one-way buyer. Le's comments were a direct attempt to reset that narrative, framing the recent sales as capital-structure housekeeping rather than the start of a sustained drawdown of the company's core position.

Investors Get a Closer Look Next Week

Strategy has scheduled a Q2 2026 earnings investor Q&A for August 17, hosted alongside executive chairman Michael Saylor, where the company is expected to face direct questions about the pace and rationale of its bitcoin purchases going forward. The session gives investors their first structured opportunity to press management on the STRC-related sales and the timeline for resuming larger-scale accumulation.

Why the Market Is Watching Closely

Strategy remains the largest corporate holder of bitcoin, and its buying pattern is widely treated as a sentiment signal for the broader market given the size of its balance sheet. A confirmed return to net accumulation — rather than just a verbal commitment — would remove one of the more closely watched sources of uncertainty hanging over bitcoin's price action in recent weeks.
