Tether minted another 1 billion USDT on the Tron network, pushing the total supply of USDT circulating on Tron past 91 billion. The mint continues a pattern of large, periodic issuances on the network that has made Tron the primary settlement layer for the world's largest stablecoin.

The scale of Tron's role in USDT circulation goes well beyond outstanding supply. Bitcoin.com News reported that Tron leads all blockchain networks in USDT transfer volume year-to-date, with approximately $4.2 trillion moved across the chain — a figure that underscores just how central Tron has become to actual stablecoin usage, not just token issuance.

Why Tron Keeps Winning USDT Volume

Tron's dominance in USDT transfers isn't accidental. The network's low transaction fees relative to Ethereum have made it the preferred rail for high-frequency stablecoin transfers, particularly in markets and use cases — cross-border remittances, exchange settlement, over-the-counter trading — where transaction costs matter more than the smart-contract flexibility Ethereum offers. That cost advantage has compounded over time into Tron carrying a disproportionate share of total USDT movement even as its share of total USDT supply, while still large, is smaller than the network's transfer-volume dominance would suggest.

A Mint That Signals Demand, Not Just Supply

New USDT mints on Tron are typically read by the market as a proxy for incoming demand for dollar liquidity on the network, since Tether generally issues new tokens in response to redemption requests from authorized partners rather than printing speculatively ahead of demand. A billion-dollar mint therefore tends to reflect real capital flowing into the Tron ecosystem, whether for trading, remittances or exchange deposits, rather than supply expansion for its own sake.

The mint adds to a broader 2026 pattern of large, repeated USDT issuances on Tron, following earlier billion-dollar mints throughout the year that have steadily pushed the network's total supply from roughly $90 billion toward its current level above $91 billion.

With Tron now handling both the largest stablecoin supply outside Ethereum and the largest transfer volume of any chain, the network's role as crypto's default dollar-settlement layer looks unlikely to change without a meaningful shift in either fee structures or user habits elsewhere.
