Trump Media & Technology Group is abandoning plans to build a Crypto.com-powered prediction-markets product directly into Truth Social, unwinding a feature called Truth Predict less than a year after it was first announced.
In place of direct integration, the companies will instead pursue a lighter-touch marketing arrangement in which Crypto.com's existing prediction products are simply promoted to Truth Social's user base — a considerably smaller commitment than the joint venture originally floated. Interim CEO Kevin McGurn told Axios the prediction-market sector has become “increasingly crowded over the past year”, making direct investment less attractive than it looked when the deal was struck.
A Fast Reversal on a Hyped Product
Truth Predict was unveiled in October 2025 as a flagship addition to Truth Social, following the September 2025 announcement of a much larger CRO treasury company built with Yorkville Acquisition Corp. that has also now been scrapped. Trump Media's broader crypto ambitions grew further in February 2026, when Crypto.com donated $35 million to the pro-Trump super PAC MAGA Inc. — a donation that drew scrutiny of the exchange's ties to the Trump family's media and political operations even as the commercial partnership between the two companies has now shrunk considerably.
Scaling Back Rather Than Competing
McGurn's characterization of the prediction-market field as overcrowded points to a build-versus-partner calculation: rather than compete head-on for market share, Trump Media is redirecting its resources toward media operations, data licensing, and a pending merger with fusion-energy company TAE Technologies that the company hopes to finalize before the end of 2026. Among recent crypto market moves, bitcoin and ether ETFs have kept posting fresh inflows to start August, a reminder that institutional appetite for regulated crypto products hasn't cooled even as individual corporate ventures like Truth Predict fall apart.
