Uniswap's UNI token fell 10.5% on the day, breaking below the $3.9 support level it had held for roughly a week and touching a three-week low of $3.4 before stabilizing near $3.5. The decline pushed the token out of its recent $3.9-$4.0 consolidation range and into a sharper downtrend.

Trading volume surged 151.8% alongside the drop, reaching $319 million as sellers overwhelmed the order book. The move triggered $3.25 million in long-position liquidations, while the broader futures market saw $137 million in outflows against $106 million in inflows — a net negative flow of $31 million, a 328% swing from the prior session.

Spot flows tell a mixed story

Spot exchange data complicates the picture. Inflows of 5.1 million UNI outpaced outflows of 3.9 million UNI, leaving a net inflow of 1.2 million tokens onto exchanges — a monthly high that typically signals holders positioning to sell rather than accumulate. That contrasts with the futures market's more balanced flow ratio, suggesting spot sellers, not leveraged traders, are driving the bulk of the pressure.

Momentum indicators reinforced the bearish tilt. The Average Directional Index climbed from 34 to 40, pointing to strengthening trend strength behind the move, while the Positive Directional Index fell from 26 to 19. The Relative Vigor Index has sat in a downtrend for five consecutive sessions, and with $3.4 broken, traders are now watching $3.0 as the next level of support.

UNI weakness contrasts with growth elsewhere in Uniswap's ecosystem

The token's slide comes even as usage of the underlying protocol has been expanding on newer venues. Uniswap crossed $1 billion in cumulative trading volume on Robinhood's newly launched Robinhood Chain within nine days of the network going live in July, with daily active traders on the chain surpassing 220,000 — a sign that protocol-level activity and token price can diverge sharply when broader market sentiment turns risk-off. That gap is a familiar pattern for governance tokens like UNI, whose price often tracks speculative positioning more closely than the fee-generating activity happening on the protocol itself.

With sellers pressing UNI through a level it had defended for a week, the next test is whether $3.0 holds. A break below would open the door to deeper losses, while a reclaim of $3.9 would be needed to stabilize the near-term structure.
