XRP is trading in two very different stories depending on which currency it's measured against. Against the U.S. dollar, the token is hovering near $1.00, a level analysts describe as a dangerous psychological threshold given XRP once traded above $3.20 during its last cycle peak. Weekly and monthly Bollinger Bands show price sliding along the lower boundary, a pattern typically associated with sustained downward pressure rather than consolidation.

Should the $1.00 level fail to hold, chart watchers point to a support zone between $0.65 and $0.85 as the next likely landing spot. That would mark a steep retracement from the token's highs and test the resolve of holders who piled in during more optimistic phases of the cycle.

A Different Picture Against Bitcoin

The XRP/BTC pair tells a less bearish story. That ratio recently tested a historic bottom near 0.00001480 BTC, and the daily chart has produced a local bullish RSI signal — a divergence suggesting sellers may be running out of steam. Volume profile data shows what analysts describe as a “vacuum” directly above the current price, with few resting sell orders standing between XRP and a move higher against Bitcoin. Should the pair revert toward its average levels, the setup implies a gain of roughly 28% for XRP relative to Bitcoin.

The apparent contradiction comes down to which side of the pair is exhausted. Bitcoin's own chart is described as overheated after its recent run, while XRP's ratio against it sits near multi-year lows — a combination that could let XRP outperform Bitcoin in relative terms even while both assets struggle against the dollar.

Part of what makes XRP's price behavior notable is the backdrop it's happening against. Ripple and the SEC recently closed the book on their years-long legal fight, with both sides dismissing their appeals of Judge Analisa Torres's original ruling. That leaves Ripple's $125 million civil penalty and the injunction on institutional XRP sales intact, after a bid to cut the fine to $50 million was rejected by the court. With the litigation risk that hung over XRP for years now resolved, the token's price action is being driven more purely by technical positioning than by headline risk from the courtroom — which may explain why traders are parsing chart-level signals like the XRP/BTC volume vacuum so closely.

For now, the token sits at a genuine fork: a break below $1.00 against the dollar would validate the bearish Bollinger Band setup, while a rebound in the XRP/BTC ratio could see it outperform Bitcoin even amid a broader pullback.
