XRP is trading near $1.06 as August opens, with bulls fending off repeated tests of the $1.02 support level that has held through the entirety of July. The token closed last month up 2.18%, its first positive month since April, after spending the period range-bound between $1.02 and $1.06.
Bears have pushed against the $1.05-$1.06 zone multiple times in the past 24 hours alone, underscoring how contested the current range has become. A decisive break below $1.02 would open the door to a retest of the psychologically important $1.00 level, a floor XRP has managed to defend throughout 2026 despite broader market volatility.
Key Levels to Watch
On the upside, the weekly 50-period moving average sits at $1.21, marking the first major resistance bulls would need to clear to shift momentum meaningfully higher. Further out, the weekly 200-period moving average near $1.80 represents a much steeper climb and would likely require a broader altcoin rally to reach. For now, price action remains pinned inside the narrower $1.00-$1.06 band that has defined trading since early July.
xrpld 3.3.0 Upgrade on the Horizon
Beyond the charts, the XRP Ledger's next major software release, xrpld 3.3.0, is expected within the coming week and carries five proposed amendments. These include Confidential MPT, which would add native privacy features for Multi-Purpose Tokens; Batch Transactions, allowing up to eight transactions to execute atomically as a single unit; Permission Delegation; Sponsored Fees and Reserves; and Dynamic MPT.
Jazzi Cooper, RippleX's head of product, highlighted the batch of upgrades as a meaningful step forward for the ledger's technical capabilities. If adopted, the amendments would expand what developers can build on XRP Ledger, particularly around privacy-preserving tokenization and more complex multi-step transactions bundled into a single atomic operation.
What It Means for Traders
With XRP still confined to a tight range, near-term price action is likely to stay reactive to whether $1.02 continues to hold as support. A clean break in either direction — below $1.00 or above the $1.21 weekly moving average — would carry more technical significance than the incremental moves seen throughout July. The upcoming ledger upgrade adds a fundamental catalyst to watch alongside the purely technical picture, though its market impact, if any, will likely take time to materialize.
