Bitget introduced pre-market options trading on July 31, giving users access to price action on 45 popular U.S. stocks and ETFs before regular exchange hours begin. The service runs Monday through Friday from 4:00 AM to 9:30 AM ET, ahead of the standard 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM ET trading session.
The initial rollout covers major index ETFs including SPY, QQQ, DIA, and IWM, alongside individual stocks such as Tesla, Nvidia, Apple, Google, Meta, Microsoft, Amazon, AMD, Intel, and Palantir. Other names on the list include Micron, TSM, Oracle, Netflix, Coinbase, Baba, UnitedHealth, and Eli Lilly.
Positioning Ahead of the Opening Bell
Bitget described the service as letting users “adjust positions, capture price opportunities, and hedge against opening-gap risk ahead of the regular market session.” Pre-market trading has traditionally been the domain of institutional investors and brokerages offering extended-hours access, so bringing it onto a crypto exchange platform extends that capability to a broader base of retail users already active in digital assets.
The exchange operates the service as an extended-hours quotation and matching arrangement run in cooperation with market makers, explicitly noting it is not part of the official exchange trading session. Orders are routed to market makers' books rather than displayed on a public order book, which can affect execution compared with regular-hours trading.
Trade-Offs for Early Movers
Bitget flagged several limitations that come with the pre-market window: short selling is not permitted during these hours, and liquidity tends to be thinner, which can widen bid-ask spreads compared with the regular session. The same fee structure that applies during normal trading hours carries over to pre-market activity, the exchange said.
