The campaign, branded Pay LATAM, is aimed at encouraging adoption of KuCoin's crypto payment and transfer rails in Brazil, Argentina, Peru and Mexico.
Under the terms KuCoin outlined, users in Brazil, Argentina and Peru can receive a 5 USDT cash coupon for completing their first QR code scan-and-pay transaction through KuCoin Pay. Separately, users in Mexico can qualify for a 5 USDT cash coupon by transferring at least 40 USDT to a local bank account through the platform's SPEI Express rail, a reference to Mexico's national interbank electronic payment system.
Targeting On-the-Ground Crypto Payments
The structure of the promotion, rewarding first-time QR scans and small-value bank transfers rather than large deposits, suggests KuCoin is optimizing for everyday transactional adoption rather than pulling in large trading volume. Latin America has been an active region for crypto payment rails generally, with stablecoins increasingly used for remittances and point-of-sale payments in markets where access to fast, low-cost bank transfers can be limited.
By tying rewards to specific national payment infrastructure, such as Mexico's SPEI system, KuCoin is positioning Pay as a bridge between crypto holdings and the traditional banking rails users already rely on, rather than asking users to transact exclusively within a closed crypto ecosystem.
