Binance says it will support an upcoming network upgrade and hard fork on Polygon, briefly pausing deposits and withdrawals of POL and other Polygon-network tokens while the change takes effect.
According to Binance's announcement, deposits and withdrawals will be suspended starting at approximately 13:00 UTC on July 29, with the hard fork itself scheduled to activate around 14:00 UTC at block height 50,185,000.
Trading Continues, Only Transfers Pause
Binance said trading of Polygon-network tokens will not be affected during the upgrade window — only deposits and withdrawals are paused, and only until the exchange determines the upgraded network is stable enough to resume transfers. Binance said it will handle all technical requirements involved on its end, meaning no action is required from users.
The upgrade corresponds to a change referred to in Polygon's own developer community as "Heimdall v0.10.0 Ithaca hf," part of ongoing updates to the network's consensus layer. Binance did not detail the specific technical changes included in the fork beyond confirming its support for the transition.
Routine but Necessary Downtime
Brief deposit and withdrawal suspensions around scheduled hard forks are standard practice among major exchanges, intended to prevent transfers from getting caught between the old and upgraded versions of a network during the transition window.
