Gate has launched a Soft Staking product for USD1, letting users earn yield on the stablecoin without locking up their holdings, according to a post from the exchange's official account.

The product carries an estimated 8% annual percentage rate, though Gate's terms specify that the figure is not fixed: the exchange adjusts the rate daily based on remaining monthly reward budgets and total platform holdings, and actual rewards also fluctuate with WLFI token market prices.

How the mechanics work

Users need to hold at least 1 USD1 in a Gate Asset Account to participate, with holdings capped at 999,999,999 USD1 per account. Rewards compound daily using hourly snapshots taken 24 times a day, with returns credited to the user's Assets account the following day. No separate subscription step is required to begin earning once USD1 is held in the qualifying account, though holdings already placed in Gate's Flexible or Fixed Term Earn products are excluded from the Soft Staking reward calculation.

A no-lock-up pitch to stablecoin holders

Gate is marketing the product around flexibility: users can withdraw their USD1 at any time without forfeiting the yield already earned, a structure aimed at holders who want a return on idle stablecoin balances without committing to a fixed term. Because the reward is denominated in and tied to the price of WLFI, the token linked to USD1's ecosystem, the effective dollar value of the yield can move with WLFI's market price even though the underlying APR estimate stays anchored near 8%.
