KuCoin has grown from a 2017 startup into one of the largest centralized exchanges in the industry, now serving more than 45 million users across over 200 countries and regions. The platform lists more than 1,000 digital assets and offers spot, futures, and derivatives trading alongside earn and payment products, positioning itself as a one-stop venue for both retail newcomers and professional traders.

Fee Structure and Tiered Trading

KuCoin's spot trading fees are organized into three tiers: Class A charges 0.1% for both makers and takers, Class B rises to 0.2%, and Class C tops out at 0.3%. Futures trading carries lower base rates of 0.02% for makers and 0.06% for takers. Users who opt to pay fees in KuCoin's native KCS token receive an additional 20% discount. Fiat access varies by rail — EUR SEPA transfers cost a flat €1 per transaction, while card purchases can run as high as 5%.

The Role of KCS

KuCoin Token, launched in 2017 as an ERC-20 asset on Ethereum, underpins much of the exchange's fee economics. Its circulating supply sits at roughly 137 million as of mid-2026 against a maximum supply of 200 million, and holders can unlock up to 20% off trading fees when using it to settle costs. For traders chasing leverage, KuCoin's futures products go as high as 100x depending on the asset.

Security and Compliance Push

KuCoin has leaned into compliance credentials as competition among exchanges intensifies. The platform holds all four of the industry's leading security certifications — SOC 2 Type II, ISO/IEC 27001:2022, ISO/IEC 27701, and CCSS — and in 2025 unveiled a $2 billion Trust Project aimed at reinforcing user confidence in its reserves and custody practices. On the regulatory side, KuCoin is registered with AUSTRAC in Australia and maintains a MiCA-compliant entity in Europe, though the exchange remains unavailable to U.S. residents.

Beyond Trading

KuCoin has also built out a brand presence well outside crypto circles, sponsoring professional golfer Adam Scott, cyclist Tadej Pogačar, the UAE Team Emirates–XRG cycling team, and the Tomorrowland music festival. Combined with its expanding asset listings and fee incentives, the exchange continues positioning itself as a global, full-service alternative to regional or single-market platforms.
