Morgan Stanley Investment Management has expanded its crypto product lineup with two new exchange-traded products tracking Ether and Solana, extending the bank's push into digital assets beyond the Bitcoin fund it launched earlier this year. The Morgan Stanley Ethereum Trust (NYSE Arca: MSSE) and the Morgan Stanley Solana Trust (NYSE Arca: MSOL) began trading on July 28, 2026, tracking ETH and SOL performance respectively using CoinDesk benchmark rates set at the 4 p.m. New York settlement.
Both products carry a 0.14% expense ratio and will stake a portion of their underlying holdings, passing the resulting rewards on to investors. Morgan Stanley was explicit that it would not keep any of the yield generated: "Morgan Stanley said it will not retain any portion of the staking rewards earned by either fund." That structure lets investors gain exposure to staking yield through a traditional brokerage product rather than running their own validator infrastructure or using a crypto-native staking service.
Building on the Bitcoin Trust Launch
The new ETPs follow Morgan Stanley's April launch of the Morgan Stanley Bitcoin Trust (NYSE Arca: MSBT), which made the firm the first major U.S. commercial bank to offer a spot Bitcoin ETF. As of July 16, that Bitcoin fund held more than $381 million in assets under management, giving Morgan Stanley a track record to build on as it broadens into altcoin-focused products.
Part of a Wider Retail and Institutional Push
The Ether and Solana launches also follow Morgan Stanley's rollout of spot cryptocurrency trading on its E*TRADE platform earlier in July, which lets eligible clients buy Bitcoin, Ether and Solana directly through a partnership with Zero Hash. Between the E*TRADE trading rollout and now three separate ETPs spanning Bitcoin, Ether and Solana, Morgan Stanley has built out one of the more complete crypto product suites among major U.S. banks in a matter of months.

The moves land alongside a broader wave of institutional ETF activity across the industry, underscoring how much of this year's institutional demand is flowing through regulated, exchange-traded structures rather than direct token custody.
What Staking-Enabled ETPs Signal
By building staking directly into the fund structure, Morgan Stanley is signaling that yield-bearing crypto products are becoming a competitive requirement for asset managers courting institutional and retail allocators alike. With expense ratios kept low and staking rewards passed through in full, the Ether and Solana Trusts position Morgan Stanley to compete directly with other spot ETH and SOL products that have emerged since regulators cleared the path for staking-enabled structures.
